Recently I had the opportunity to serve as a guest on the Dr. Oz Show about the dangers of Keratin Hair Treatments! It was an exciting day, but it also was very informative to viewers.
The segment explains the risk that stylists and clients endure when they are exposed to toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde in Keratin Hair Treatments (for example, the Brazilian Blowout). Nikki Walton explains to Dr. Oz the dangers present in these products and walks him through the steps clients go through during a treatment, while showing how harmful the procedure is along the way.
Jen and I are thrilled that the segment explains how everyone in the salon is affected, not just those engaging in the treatment. This is such a serious fact that needs to be addressed and recognized.
Watch the segment by clicking the link below! It is divided into 2 clips. I appear in the second clip. We were cut down a lot from the initial piece, but I am so happy that we were able to spread awareness through such a huge platform. It’s a great step in the right direction!

Hi – I am having a bad chemical reaction to my first Brazilian Blowout. My scalp, face and neck are burning. I had the treatment done last Thursday at 11am and it is now Wednesday and the burn is persisting. I have washed several time (even using things like eggs, coconut oil and salt to help get rid of the chemicals and relieve the burning but nothing is happening. Even Benadryl doesn’t seem to help. What can I do to get it out of my hair?
